  2. Prepare the turkey stuffing and stuff the bird, if stuffing is desired
  3. Remove neck and giblets from inside the cavity
  4. Rinse turkey inside and out with cold water
  5. Dry turkey inside and out with paper towels
  6. Place turkey, breast side up, on a roasting rack in a roasting pan
  7. Rub the outside of the turkey with oil
  8. Salt and pepper the turkey inside and out

Tips for roasting a turkey

  • To thaw the turkey move it from the freezer to the fridge two days before the day you intend to roast it
  • Alternately, place the turkey into a tight plastic bag and then into a big pot with cold water - alow half day to thaw
  • Turkey should be roasted 10 to 12 minutes per pound if not stuffed
  • Stuffed turkey should be roasted for about 12 to 15 minutes per pound
  • Do not cover the roasting turkey in order to allow the skin to get a nice, deep brown color
  • If the turkey turns brown to quickly before being done, try to move the turkey inside the oven to prevent burning these parts or cover the brown parts with aluminim foil
  • Never cover the entire turkey with aluminum foil, it will prevent it from roasting properly

Merry Christmas!
